After the combining of two medical institutes , the department of phthisiology was headed by professor Rashidov Z.R.

The department in now a day consists from 10 members: head of department – MD, three PhD teachers, two senior teachers, three assistants.

At the department studies 4^th and 6^th courses students from medical-pedagogical and treatment faculties, 4^th course students from medical-prophylactic faculty. At the same time at department studies masters and clinical ordinates.
